This 4 page, 4 part readers' theater script tells the story of a veterinarian who helps a family's beloved dog. The script is written with primary students in mind and contains parts for Emergent and Transitional readers as follows:
o High Emergent (approximate reading levels 6-8): Sarah (girl), Mom
o High Transitional (approximate reading levels 14-18): Narrator
o Fluent (reading levels 20+) Jenna (the vet)
This allows children to work with classmates who may not be in their reading groups and makes for a nice change. It also allows fluent readers to model good reading habits and lets struggling readers participate in reading a "meatier" text.
Also included are full page, color images of each character, which students can use to make hats or neck signs to identify their role to the audience.
This script is part of a series of readers' theater scripts on community workers, each available individually or all together in a discounted bundle.
OR get all the above scripts in one product: Community Workers: Readers’ Theater for Grades 1 and 2. Includes all 10 of the above scripts plus follow up questions and a template for students to write their own community workers' readers' theater script.
