Students review the Vietnam War from the US History point of view by completing 10 creative and factual/analytical tasks. A points distribution is included (total of 140 points). Answers are not included because most answers will vary from student to student and school to school. This can be modified to be a pairs or group activity, easier, more difficult, or to be from more of a World History perspective. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for modification ideas. This would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
-Draw a map of Vietnam on the left side of your paper. Leave the right side free for writing space. (there are then 4 map related tasks)
-Discuss 3 challenges faced by American soldiers during the Vietnam War that really weren’t factors for soldiers in previous military engagements
-America was involved in the Vietnam situation to a variety of degrees during the following presidencies: Eisenhower, JFK, Johnson, and Nixon. Write a slogan for each president’s treatment of, and involvement in, the Vietnam situation
- Discuss the reasons that America eventually pulled out of Vietnam. Make sure you mention both political and public factors.
