This PowerPoint will introduce students to this Northeastern Native American group using the visual thinking strategies to encourage students to build their own knowledge as they view one photograph at a time, and sharing what they see. There are three basic questions that teachers ask students as they view each picture:
1. What is going on in this picture?
2. What do you see that makes you say that?
3. What more can we find?
The teacher will paraphrase what each student says, modeling good language for all of the students.
By the end of the PowerPoint, students will have constructed their own well founded knowledge of the Wampanoags before they research further.
