This lesson should be given after students are taught both the concepts of Supply and Demand and serves as both a partial review for each concept, but allows them to actually *do* economics from a simplified public policy perspective.
Students will begin thinking about ways to diminish both the supply and demand for illegal drugs, and then will be guided through a discussion on the pluses and minuses of several solutions. Finally, students will be asked to come up with their own policy (in groups) and present it to the class.
This includes a Powerpoint with a printable graphic organizer (last slide). The Powerpoint walks you through the lecture. This could be a rushed 50 minute lesson, or extend over into a 2nd period.
