>> I have revised this lesson and added 10 lesson pages and words, with illustrations, for your word wall.

♦♦ A fun and interactive lesson, where I tried a different approach by setting up three different experiments and creating time-lapse sequences to demonstrate evaporation, transpiration and condensation. An outline of the topics covered is shown below, but better still, click on the PREVIEW button above to see what you get!

The following topics are covered:

• The opening page questions "What is water?" and briefly shows its structure and its three forms.
• A graph to show how much drinking water there is on Earth.
• An interactive diagram showing percentage of water in parts of our body.
• Guess the water content of various foods.
• A dinosaur is used to illustrate the recycling of water on Earth.
• Evaporation - a time-lapse video of a simple experiment to show the evaporation of colored salt water from a tray.
• Transpiration - another time-lapse video taken over a 20 minute period showing moisture collecting on the inside of a plastic bag tied over a plant. Here I took 240 photos at 5 sec intervals to produce this 10 sec movie.
• Condensation - this time-lapse video is of an experiment using 2 tumblers (the experiment [A] and a control) showing the formation of water droplets on the outside of the tumbler [A] after ice was added.
• A closer look at rising air and clouds - a hidden answer activity.
• Clouds - this is a matching activity by dragging the captions to the correct cloud images.
• Precipitation - an animation to show the 4 main types of precipitation - hail, snow, sleet and rain. A matching activity.
• An animation of the water cycle with pop-up text explaining each stage when each button is touched.
• How much do you remember? The kids have to drag the labels into the correct boxes. An animated page.
• Or water supply - a simplified flow diagram.
• Other water sources - a slide show showing how many communities struggle to get water.
• Water Pollution - a river's journey to the sea plus a slide show.
• Groundwater - what is it? An animated diagram.
• Groundwater - under threat.
• Make your own water filter - a video clip to show how it's done
• A short matching quiz by dragging the correct words to the explanations. Then a short animated experiment "create your own water cycle in a bottle" with an explanation afterwards.

Also included in your package:

♦ Two games - a Jigsaw Puzzle and an Interactive Word Search. The kids always enjoy this - the WordSearch (with "water cycle words") can be 'scrambled' after each game so it's never the same!
♦ A small water cycle poster plus words (with illustrations) for your word wall.
♦ A fun coloring-in activity for the whiteboard.
♦ A printable worksheet - label the stages of the water cycle and then color in. Answer sheet included.
♦ Teacher's notes - additional notes to supplement the lesson.
