Book clubs can be a great, enjoyable, and meaningful experience for students but a lot of work for teachers! I have enjoyed running many book clubs in my classroom and have found that it really gets students interested in reading and also works on their cooperative as well as independent work skills.
This book club is for the novel "The Watsons go to Birmingham--1963." It includes a teacher guide, discussion questions for each set of chapters (the book is divided into seven missions), and interactive missions that incorporate different art projects, social studies questions, mapping activities, 2 science experiments, and creative writing. It should include everything that you need to get your class doing a literature circle or book club with this novel!
