This is a complete set; five tests cover the whole book. These five ELA reading comprehension test for The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963 were successfully used in both regular and inclusion fifth grade classrooms. They can also be used in special education classrooms. In addition to the tests, this package includes teacher answer keys. The complete package for this book includes 47 pages. Each test has between 25 and 40 questions.
Each test is made up of multiple choice questions; true/false questions; and character identification matching. The test is easy to correct and provides an accurate tool to check student’s understanding of the material.
In keeping with the Common Core Standards, page numbers are provided for most questions and students are encouraged to use the text to find their answers. The questions are designed to test: finding the main idea; recognizing cause and effect; recalling facts and details; comparing and contrasting; understanding sequence; making predictions; finding word meaning in context; identifying author’s purpose; drawing conclusions and making inferences; interpreting figurative language; distinguishing between fact and opinion; summarizing; and understanding similes.
Experience proved that our more competent students successfully answer many of the questions using recall, while less competent students relied heavily on using the provided page numbers and the text, making these test a useful tool to help the overall student population become more confident readers.
