If your students enjoyed reading Christopher Paul Curtis’ novel “The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963,” they will absolutely LOVE viewing the film adaptation! Students will work to compare key characters, settings, and plot events and will reflect on why certain directorial choices were made. This fully supports standard RL7 that requires students to “Analyze the extent to which a filmed or live production of a story or drama stays faithful to or departs from the text or script, evaluating the choices made by the director or actors.”
This NO-PREP activity is a challenging, engaging, and interactive activity to be used for reviewing and extending upon students' knowledge after reading the novel. Simply share the links to the Google Slides organizer with students, and watch them go! This product contains a printable PDF file as well as a link to a digital copy of the assignment that may be assigned in Google Classroom and completed digitally by students.
