You are in the middle of a lesson and don't have the chance to go resolve a problem immediately. If the disruption can be taken care a moment later, this is a great slip of paper to hand to a student. I have seen the "STOP" sign cards to give to kids when you are teaching and you want them to correct their behavior right away. This frustrates and sets off kids right away because they think they are in huge trouble, or they hate when they get stop signs because they get them all the time! Well, this slip of paper is for COMMUNICATION!!! The teacher sees, "Johnny" is having a problem, I have to get through this lesson, he should be okay, but how do I let him I noticed he isn't don't great... I can easily continue talking, and float around the room to give him this piece of paper. It lets him see you are there for him as his teacher. Then if he wants, he can think and process on his own before you even verbally say anything to him. These can be reusable or print outs for kids to write on the back of. I personally like the print outs so kids can communicate with you right away about what the problem is. Then you have a physical paper reminder that, oh yeah! I need to go back and solve this problem, or record it for behavior data.
