This Weather Theme packet is designed to give students multiple, fun, hands-on opportunities to learn about the Weather through Math and Literacy Center Activities.
Activities included are:
Weather Spoons Game:
This game is designed to be played just like the card game Spoons. Only instead of finding matches that are the same number, the matches are the Weather Vocabulary Words in the Spanish Language. This is a fun, entertaining, hands-on approach to learn and practice new Vocabulary Words.
Weather Spin the Wheel Board Game:
This game is designed to be played in Centers or Small Groups. Students have the opportunity to learn about the Weather in a fun way. Students take turns spinning the wheel and moving their marker to the corresponding space on the Board. Once in the space, they need to tell what is the Weather like? If they’re unable to do it, they move back 2 spaces. The next player haven then, the opportunity to answer. If they answer correctly, they move up 2 spaces. The first person to reach the end of the board, wins the game.
Weather Memory Game/ Find the Match:
Students can use the cards to play the traditional Memory Game or to play Find the Match by going around the classroom to find another person with the same weather card.
Weather Mini Book:
This mini book is great for beginning readers. Students practice vocabulary words through a simple repetitive text.
This activity can be used both as an independent and/or Center Activity. Students need to order the puzzle pieces to find the hidden picture. Two versions included: The first one to be used in Centers and the second one as an independent activity where students cut the pieces of the puzzle and glue them in a blank worksheet. Then, they write How’s the Weather like according to the picture.
In this Independent Activity, students will work with AB, ABB, AAB and AABB patterns.
Roll and Color: In this Independent Activity, students throw a dice and color to review Weather Vocabulary Words.
Picture- Word Match: In this Independent Activity, students match Weather Vocabulary Words with the corresponding picture.
All activities are great for visual, tactile and kinesthetic learners.
