I used 'The Wednesday Surprise book to do an inferring and synthesizing lesson.
Students inferred what they thought the was the surprise. They used text evidence to support their thinking. They also infer what the characters are feeling based on text evidence.
Their thinking changes as you read the story - this is synthesizing, because they have to change their thinking and support it with the new evidence.
The pages in the flip book pause and allow students to write down their thoughts and support.
There is also a part for them to rate their understanding. I have also added a story map page, writing page, and blank template.
