This two page document for The Westing Game provides a quick activity that combines creative elements as well as text evidence to support Common Core standards. Students will be asked to identify suspicious events, characters, or evidence and find textual evidence in the novel to support their ideas. Students will then illustrate the quote in the snapshot frame.
This activity can be used either as part of a "case file" to support a hypothesis about the identity of the burglar, bomber, bookkeeper or murderer, or it can be used independently. Photos can be cut out and posted around the room as a visual summary of key points in the book. Turn your room into a police station with these photos and the accompanying wanted poster for the suspects.
Pages are laid out so that they may be printed back-to-back and students will have the instructions listed on the back of the snapshot frame.
