Teachers: Thank you for reviewing this printable, year long, literacy packet of 15 types of figurative language and writing strategies. I have used this material with 3rd, 4th and 6th grades and will be using it with my upcoming 5th grade.
I have found that when you introduce the skills and strategies for writing earlier in the school year, the children’s writing develops greater depth sooner and continues throughout. This 63 page packet contains fun, hands on activities, crafts and writing prompts.
I would recommend, based upon your own student’s base skills and their individual writing ability, that you begin with the easier skills for description (adjectives, similes, alliteration, Armadillo etc.), building on the more advanced writing strategies and higher level figurative language.
