Description

The Wild Robot Book Study

This resource is a complete literature guide for The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The plot follows Roz, a robot, as she observes the wildlife on her island and eventually becomes accepted by them. Many science concepts are integrated into the plot (adaptation, observation, and more.) This novel is a terrific book for grades 3 - 5.

This unit is ready to print and go. Two formats are included to make it easier for teachers to use this in their classrooms.

1. Folded Booklet - All of the included lessons can be made into a folded book. The booklet uses five pieces of copy paper printed front and back.

2. Individual Lessons - For teachers who want to use a few lessons, each lesson also comes on a single page. There are ten pages in all.

The lessons included are:

  • Character Traits
  • Settings
  • Plot Diagram
  • Theme & Author's Purpose
  • Vocabulary & Reading Comprehension Questions - grouped by chapter on 6 pages

Throughout the included lessons, students practice identifying text evidence and using it to answer specific questions, justify their responses, and create illustrations of Roz the robot and the island.
