Product Design: I have designed this product as one part of a four part centers activity for Place Value and Comparing Numbers. This center requires students to use the given materials to build either the tallest or the strongest structure. After each team has rotated through and had a chance to build, the teacher must test the structures to find the winner. Judge the tallest structure by measuring and the strongest structure by stacking textbooks on top of it!
Ready-to-Use: This product requires very little prep-copy and set the student instructions at a center area.
Additional Supplies Needed: Each student team needs 4 hundreds blocks, 10 tens blocks, and 20 ones blocks. Make sure there are enough for each team as you want to allow for judging at the end of the centers rotations.
PA Standards Covered: CC.2.1.3.B.1: Apply place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic.
Eligible Content covered include: MO3.A-T.1.1.1, MO3.A-T.1.1.4
