Students do so much learning through the use of paper and pencil tools. Why not turn some of that learning into a Paper Bag Book! This book can be used to incorporate writing activities with the story, The Wizard of Oz, By L. Frank Baum (any grade level studying this book could incorporate this product). This paper bag book activity goes along with the First Grade ELA Unit 4: Winds of Change, of the Common Core Standards. Here are two standards Unit 4 addresses:
RL.1.4: Identify words and phrases in stories or poems that suggest feelings or appeal to the senses. SL.1.4: Describe people, places, things, and events with relevant details, expressing ideas and feelings clearly.
This Paper Bag book is perfect for writing adjectives to describe characters, creating character webs, listing character feelings, responding to parts of the story, reflecting on parts of the story, writing facts about characters, writing senses used by characters throughout the story, etc. The possibilities are endless! This is a 6-page (3 paper bag) book.
