The most significant and recent Supreme Court case involving women’s rights was Wal-Mart v. Dukes in 2011. This case involved a class-action lawsuit filed by Betty Dukes on behalf of 1.6 million women who currently work or have worked for Wal-Mart stores.

Dukes, and others alleged gender discrimination in pay and promotion policies and practices in Wal-Mart stores. The courts eventually dismissed the class action and ruled in Wal-Marts favor by a 5-4 decision.

This is one of several significant rulings on women’s rights, recognizing the many milestones women’s rights activists have achieved throughout history. The following is a list of the 10 most significant Supreme Court cases dealing with women’s rights in the history of the United States.
