This webquest sends students on a researching adventure to research the life and poetry of Emily Dickinson.
Students play the part of a journalist writing an article for a History magazine. Their mission is to find out about Emily Dickinson's life and, to analyze her poetry for tone, symbolism, and theme. They are given a digital presentation and a worksheet to guide them through the process of researching their work. Then they are given instructions on writing a 500 word article. A detailed rubric for this article is included at the end of the worksheet.
This lesson is great for introducing Emily Dickinson as a historical figure and a female American author. This is great to study during Women's History Month, National Poetry Month, or any time you are exploring American poetry of the 19th century.
