Including in my school curriculum is the book called "The Wright Brothers: Pioneers of American Aviation" by Quentin Reynolds. In searching for an activity to do with this, I could not find any teacher resources. I was becoming a bit agitated by this.
Instead of the usual Comprehension guide that usually has questions for each chapter, I have created a more student focused packet.
As students read through the chapter groups, they have four tasks listed below.
1. Find one vocabulary term and write it down. It could an interesting word or a word they don't know. Have them look up the definition and write it down.
2. Write a short summary of your initial reactions/thoughts to the particular section of the book.
3. Write three facts that you learned while reading that you didn't know or that were interesting.
4. Come up with one comprehension question that you could ask about this section you have read.
This is a great resources. I have not included Common Core standards, but I know for sure there are many that could be included here.
