The focus in the writing process is on what students think and do as they write. Students learn to use the writing process as they write compositions in writing workshop. Students need many oportunities to learn to use the writing process. Teachers should model the writing process by writing class collaborations. Also, teachers should teach minilessons on the procedures, concepts, and strategies and skills that writers use. The five steps in the writing process are: pre-writing, writing, revising, editing, and publishing. Every time when students are going to start working on a writing piece, they can refer to the posters. This process will remind your students that there are certain steps that they need to do when they write.
