This adaptation of the classic copper - silver nitrate reaction introduces students to stoicheometry, conservation of mass (or reinforces this concept), mole ratios, theoretical yield, percent yield, actual yield. A full week is required to conduct the lab work AND pre and post lab the students. The experience is in itself essentially a complete mini-unit introducing all of the above concepts. The writing is clear, concise and provides sufficient detail for the student to conduct the lab and the teacher to prep the lab. If further assistance is required, contact me! This lab is written much more clearly than others I have seen intended to introduce stoicheometry.
