The water cycle…A very complicated diagram drawn in a very simple way….
High school students are expected to go deep into the water cycle and be able to discuss the components of it. They have to recognize the water bodies and explain the processes that take the water from one body to another. When it comes to drawing a diagram showing the whole cycle they start struggling.
This is an activity that helps the students to build the water cycle step by step and to analyze it.
They will use a simple blank graphic organizer and ready-made cards to build the cycle. They will follow the teacher’s instructions to fill in the blank organizer, and then add the processes on arrows between them using the cards.
The instructions the teacher will give are provided.
It can be done as a whole class work, as a group or a pair work as well, or as a flipped learning activity where students get the instructions and the sheets, do the work at home and come back next time to discuss their findings.
