Theater Arts - Styles of Drama Unit

Theater Arts - Styles of Drama Unit
Product Description
This is a unit for students to learn about the structure of scripts and writing for both stage and film. This file includes:

- Vocabulary terms on power points (*Note that some of the movie examples might be a little outdated. Feel free to update them if you wish!)
- Graphic organizers for students to copy these terms onto
- Worksheet over the 7 Causes of Laughter, which students can fill in with examples from their favorite comedy movies
- A review of the 7 Causes of Laughter to use with Mel Brooks' "Robin Hood: Men in Tights
- A worksheet over the elements of tragedy: one to be used in conjunction with the movie "A Walk to Remember", the other with "Romeo and Juliet" (they are the same worksheet; it's to give a chose between a more traditional tragedy and a more modern one)
- Skits for students to do in different styles
- A review guide for styles of drama (this does go with chapter 6 of The Stage and the School textbook but I have included the answer key so you can use it for a teaching guide even if you don't use the textbook)
- Crossword puzzle for styles of drama terms
- a fun performance test for students to do in which 5 groups each have to write and perform a 5 minute skit in the genre they are assigned, each incorporating the same 3 essential elements
- an alternative assignment to the performance test for students who are out with extended absences
- 3 versions of a vocabulary test over the terms for this unit
