This is an easy, fun and painless way to teach classroom procedures- through acting! I use CHAMPS in my classroom and so it's imperative for students to embody my procedures.
CHAMPS is my all time favorite classroom management tool. Misbehavior generally stems from a fear of not knowing what to expect or know how to act. My students are still trying to figure which shoes to wear, which friends to hang with and how to talk to the opposite sex. I don’t want my space to add to their day to day uncertainty. We are already teaching how to act on stage, CHAMPS teaches them how to act in our rooms. CHAMPS is an acronym to teach and instruct students how to act during ALL class procedures defined by the teacher.
Objective: Students will be able to imitate life experiences through dramatic play.
Instructions: Students will rehearse and perform two tableaus imitating the wrong and the right way to act out one classroom procedure in their table groups.
