This short assessment / activity asks students to scour specific pages in the text for quotes that affirm certain themes in Zora Neale Hurston's 'Their Eyes Are Watching God'.
After copying the quote that best supports the themes below, students are given the opportunity to explain how this line fits into the development of the theme as a whole, forming what we call a "link in a chain".
