THEIR, THERE, THEY’RE game cards (50) can be used:
with the game board in a small group.
In a large group using 50 response cards (each student can write “THEIR”, “THERE”, or “THEY’RE” on three index cards each). Teacher can project the cards on an interactive board and pose each sentence the class. Each student holds up the card they believe fills in the blank.
They can be laminated and numbered for a center for students to answer individually.
As a game: (One die and a move piece for each player):
Place movers at ‘start’.
Play begins with a card drawn. The first person designated to start has to read the card and identify which homophone completes the sentence. If correct, they roll the die and move that many forward. If incorrect, then play ends and next play moves to the person to the left. Game winner is the first to reach “end”.
