This resource goes along with the book: Thelma the Unicorn by Aaron Blabey!
It is best to be used at the beginning of the year as there are a few back to school activities.
Here is what is provided in this resource:
*Comprehension questions for the teacher to ask during a read aloud.
*2 different comprehension worksheets- a beginning, middle, and end page and a summary sheet.
*A writing activity where students write about what makes them special. Students also get a chance to include a photo of themselves with a unicorn horn.
*Pick a uni-card-Students take turns picking unicorn cards from a bag or basket. The cards have "getting to know you" type questions. These questions will be shared with the group. This is a quick little activity for students to get to know more about classmates at the beginning of the year. There is also a quick write that goes along with this activity.
*Partner Design and Create-This is a great teamwork activity. Students have to design something together using an already created item. Then they will have to write about the design. *Teachers could also incorporate building of their creations if the teacher has any type of building materials in the classroom.
*Kindness posters-students will create kindness posters to hang in the school.
