Printmaking started out as a means for mass publication, but has evolved into an art. Famous artists, such as Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and Van Gogh, include printmaking in their reportoire. This lesson introduces students to the art of relief printmaking, specifically linoleum prints (linocut).
Included are 7 packed pages of lesson objectives, directions, vocabulary, assessments, handouts for group work and self-assessment, essential questions to pose to students, and ideas for adaptation and extension.
Also listed are the standards met for INTASC, National, and Utah (since that's where I teach).
I introduce this lesson after scratch boards and collagraphs, but it can also be taught on its own.
My students really enjoy it!
