This is a GREAT way to look at all of the pivotal events of the first century of the republic! This timeline of events begins with the ratification of the Constitution and ends with Reconstruction after the Civil War. This exercise is aligned to the eight themes of the California state standards for Grade 11 United States History and asks students to explain how each event is related to one of those themes. It allows students to make meaningful connections between what the event was, why it was so significant, and most importantly, how it reinforces a theme of study. This is a magnificent tool for reviewing for you state exam or a study guide for a final exam! Additionally, it reinforces the sequential order of events and cause and effect analysis which can help with common core. My students love it and it helps with their test scores!
