Arachnid and Insect Fact Booklet:
This 12-page booklet makes a great Science and/or Social Studies activity. Pages are numbered for easy assembly. Before passing this out I use the Slideshow as a discussion and introduction tool. Students love to cut, staple, read and color their own fact booklet. Answer key included.
This 28-page Slideshow is a great tool for introduction to the unit and for class discussion.
This activity includes 20 sorting cards and two mats (one arachnid mat and one insect mat). Print on cardstock and laminate for durability. Cut the cards apart and place them with the mats to form a set. Make several sets for a partner or group activity. Includes answer key.
Comprehension Test: Created for "A Very Busy Spider" by Eric Carle. Assess student comprehension with this simple 10-question multiple choice quiz. The 10th question requires students to write a complete sentence about their favorite part of the story.

Creative Writing: There are two versions of creative writing to enable easy differentiation. After reading "A Very Busy Spider" by Eric Carle, students will either:
- Complete the sentence telling what they would do if they were a
- Write whether they would like to have a pet spider and tell why or
Activity: Look for bags of plastic insects and arachnids at the Dollar Store. Students love to sort these "live" creatures on the sorting mats included in this unit.
