I use this resource as a supplemental resource for my main idea and theme unit. I think discussing these two at the same time is important because students often times try to give the main idea as the theme. It’s important for them to really see the differences between the two.
To prepare the game, simply print pages 5-11 on cardstock, laminate, and cut apart. I like to place my cards in a ziploc bag, place the answer key in an envelope, and have the students check their answers when they are finished. All the students have to do is match the theme to the correct main idea. I have included a recording sheet. For some main idea cards, there are multiple theme answers.
*An answer key is provided.*
