This is a history assignment, although I have used it in an English classroom. The slideshow provides students with a definition of technology and then takes them on a visual trip through the past century. Each slide shows a category of then and now images, such as, transportation, clothing, games/for fun, and chores (12 different categories).

As you stop on each slide, provide students with facts, stories, and other examples in lecture format. Let students ask questions! During the lecture, students should listen and take notes - writing or typing as you speak. I provide students with a COPY OF this slideshow through Google Classroom; students type their notes at the bottom of each slide.

Integrate visual information (e.g., in charts, graphs, photographs, videos, or maps) with other information in print and digital texts.
Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
Pose questions that connect the ideas of several speakers and respond to others’ questions and comments with relevant evidence, observations, and ideas.
Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 8 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.
