Celebrate Earth Day with everyone’s favorite old lady! This literature unit includes a full-length original book, There Was an Old Lady Who Planted a Tree, and 4 literacy, language and listening activities for follow up! The book follows the Old Lady-book style with rhyming and repetition. Follow the old lady as she saves the earth by planting a tree, composting, picking up litter, riding a bike, recycling, hanging clothes out to dry and turning off lights and water. Each page also includes a fun fact about the green action. Follow up activities include:
1. Picture sequence cards for retelling
2. Comprehension question cards
3. Sorting the Recycling, a following directions barrier game
4. Written response about what green action(s) they can take
Have fun with the old lady by learning some Earth Day facts, as well as targeting listening, language and literacy skills!
