Print and cut out the old lady’s head and body. You or your student(s) can glue the head to the body. You can have students glue the old lady to a file folder or large piece of construction paper to make it sturdier.
Print and cut out the pictures of the school supplies. Each student should have one copy of the old lady and one copy of the school supplies. Each page of school supplies has two sets.
Students can color in the old lady and the pictures.
Attach parent note to the project and send home with your students.
You can use this activity in several different ways. Here are my suggestions:
Sequencing activity/Memory: Have students glue the pictures onto the old lady’s stomach in the order that she swallowed them.
Have students glue the pictures onto her stomach as they retell the story.
Describe each picture and/or state its function. Students need to identify the correct picture, then glue it to her stomach.
When a student picks a picture, s/he needs to describe it and state the function of the item.
Have students say each word in a sentence.
For fluency, have students use easy speech while retelling the story.
