There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books is a speech and language companion Pack for to use with the story by Lucille Colandro. This is a 37 page companion pack that may be used by SLPs as well as special education teachers to target matching, requesting, story comprehension, answering questions, following directions, categorizing, naming attributes, similarities and difference, sorting, and includes a game board which may be used to target a variety of language goals including social skills and articulation. Great back to school activity!
Page 4-5: School Vocabulary: Can be used to discuss vocabulary or print two copies and use as a matching activity or memory game.
Page 6-10: Word Wall pictures/vocabulary associated with the story.
Page 11-14: Sequencing pages: Two separate sequencing pages one in color and one in black and white. Black and white can also be used for following directions (e.g. color the ruler brown).
Page 15-16: School vocabulary matching in color.

Page 22: School Rules open ended game board: Can be used with attribute cards or same/different cards.
Page 23-29: Attribute cards: Includes 30 nouns cards related to the story or School, 6 blank cards, and 6 game cards (i.e. go back two spaces or go ahead one space). Students draw a card and list attributes for given picture.
Page 30-35: Same/different cards: Include 24 pairs of same/different cards (e.g. pen and pencil), 6 blank cards, and 6 game cards (i.e. go back two spaces or go ahead one space). Students draw a card and state how items are the same or different.
Page 36: Communication board: To be used while reading the store. Great for nonverbal students or those who are expanding vocabulary and length of utterances.
