Who doesn't love the "Old Lady" books by Lucille Colandro? This is a great book to introduce to your students at the beginning of school!
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Feed the Old Lady
Object Function Cards
“What’s in my backpack?” Coloring activity
School supply bingo
Print small pictures for sequencing and use the same ones for “Feed the Old Lady”. You can attach the large face on a tissue box, manila envelope, plastic bag, whatever you want! As you read the story, give students pictures and have them feed the lady as you come to each story component.
Print object function cards and ask students “what do you do with” or “what is it used for”. You could print 2 copies and make a memory match game out of it!
For comprehension, I put 1 or 2 stickers in the corner of the cards. Ask questions and see who can collect the most stickers!
Print coloring pages and ask students what is in their backpack. You could have them give an expressive statement about each item as they color what is in their backpack.
School Supply Bingo: 3 bingo boards are included in this pack. Print as many as necessary and give to each student in your group. Proceed to play bingo as usual. Some of the images repeat on the board, so make sure the student looks closely!
What other ideas do you have? I would love to hear them!!
