There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a bat is a speech and language companion Pack for to use with the story by Lucille Colandro. This is a 36 page companion pack that may be used by SLPs as well as special education teachers to target matching, requesting, story comprehension, answering questions, following directions, categorizing, naming attributes, similarities and difference, sorting, and includes a game board which may be used to target a variety of language goals including social skills and articulation.
Page 4-5: Halloween Vocabulary: Can be used to discuss vocabulary or print two copies and use as a matching activity or memory game.

Page 29-34: Same/different cards: Include 24 pairs of same/different cards (e.g. Flashlight and lantern), 6 blank cards, and 6 game cards (i.e. lose a turn or go ahead one space). Students draw a card and state how items are the same or different.
Page 35: Communication board: To be used while reading the story. Great for nonverbal students or those who are expanding vocabulary and length of utterances.
