Book Companion for I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie

This 49 page activity pack is perfect for speech or language therapy. The activities included are perfect for speech and language intervention, literacy circles and whole group activities.
Retelling: Cut out the old lady’s head.(page 3.) Cut out her mouth and attach it to an empty tissue box. Use the props on page 4 to feed the lady pieces of the story.
Ordinal Numbers: Print and cut the included cards. Have students find matches. Place the cards in sequential order. (Color and BW)
Comprehension questions & retelling mat: Print, cut, and laminate. Place Velcro in each square (page 9). Cut up comprehension cards (page 10-12) and attach to page 9. (Use either the two , three answer choices or just questions.) As students answer questions correctly they remove the card to reveal parts of the picture. Once all the cards have been removed students will use the retelling mat to retell the story.
Yes/No questions: (page 13)
Matching: Print and give each student a copy of page 14. Students are to draw a line from what she ate to the reason she ate it.
Thanksgiving Bingo: (page 15-17) These boards can be used for identifying vocabulary from the story, describing, identification by attributes, etc.
Rhyme: Cut out the cards (page 18-20) and match rhyming words from the story.
Verb Tense: Cut out each verb card (pages 22-24). Use the mat (page 21) to sort the cards into past, present and future tense. Have students formulate sentences with one or all verb tenses.
Counting Syllables: (page 25-26) Students will say the word on the card and determine how many syllables the word has.
Mini Book: (Page 27-29) Cut out the book and staple together. Cut out the pictures (page 29). Have students glue the pictures into their book to retell the story.

Temporal Concepts: Cut off the top portion of the paper and give it to your student. Using the bottom potion call out the directions and have your students follow the directions.
Compare & Contrast: Give each student a worksheet. Have your students compare and contrast the pictured objects.
Describe: Give each student a worksheet. Have your students describe the pictured objects.
Categorization: Print, cut, and laminate pages 41-43. Place the plates on the table and have your students sort the food onto the correct plates.
Roll & Color: Roll the die on page 44. then color that object on your paper. The first person to color in all of the objects is the winner.
