Active learning puzzle task disguised as a fun activity. There are 23 words for students to find. These are character names and locations important in the plot of There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sachar.
Students will enjoy this activity. In addition to finding words in the grid, there are two sneaky add-on tasks. You will probably only use one of these. Students are asked to write a new sentence for each name or place, explaining its importance in the story. The second task asks them to write a summary of the plot using the words from the list.
This is the type of resource that could be used as a homework assignment, for a substitute teacher, or as class work on occasions when you need a filler, and have nothing prepared.
