Active learning puzzle task disguised as a fun activity. There are 38 words for students to find. This is key vocabulary with which students should be familiar to discuss the plot of There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sachar.
Students will enjoy this activity. In addition to finding words in the grid, there is a sneaky add-on task. Students are asked to write a new sentence for each word, explaining its importance in the story, or their understanding of the word.
This is the type of resource that could be used as a homework assignment, for a substitute teacher, or as class work on occasions when you need a filler, and have nothing prepared.
