Students are divided into groups and rotate through 9 mini lessons about Thermal Energy.
-Introductory Cornell Note style PowerPoint lecture. Give the lecture as a whole class before hand or use it as one of the stations.
-Wait time activities that can be used as a time filler during investigations, homework or extra practice.
-Station directions for the following:
*Correspondence station- Students pick a writing prompt and on the correspondence sheet they respond to the writing prompts.
*Investigation stations- 3 investigations into each of the thermal energies- conduction, convection and radiation. Investigations include student pages, station directions and a teacher set up guide.
*Number station- Students practice finding thermal equilibrium.
*Organization station- Students complete a graphic organizer over the types of thermal energy- conduction, convection and radiation.
*Visualization station- Students draw examples of each of the types of thermal energy and label the examples.
*Vocabulary station- Students complete word maps over terms: Thermal, Equilibrium, Conductors, Insulators
