Celebrate Halloween and give students the practice they need at finding the vertex of quadratics with these Math-Then-Graph Activities.
Students are given a list of coordinate points to plot. Some of the points are disguised as quadratic equations. The students need to find the vertex of each quadratic equation. The students should connect the coordinate points (and vertices) only within the designated zones. When they are done, they will have graphed a picture of a three very spooky Bats in Flight.
These activities include four complete versions: one version only uses quadratics in standard form; one version only uses quadratics in vertex form; one version only uses quadratics in sideways vertex form (commonly used with conic sections); and, one version that uses standard, vertex and sideways vertex forms mixed together.
Here are some tips:
All points will be on one grid line or another.
A completed picture has been provided to be used as a key.
You can download my custom made FREE GRAPH PAPER from my store.
I have also found that printing graph paper directly from themathworksheetsite.com
helps out, but any graph paper will do.
