Introduce the concept of two different types of questions with your students:
-thin questions (questions answered directly in the book)
-thick questions (those that require more 'thinking' or inferring)
Included are 'headers' and also 7 questions that you can ask during reading the story. At the end, you can sort and answer the questions with your students.
The goal is for students to begin to identify the types of questions which will help them in the future when answering questions. For example, if students come to a thin question, they should know to go back into the text to find the answer.
