This is a small pack of three helpful planning materials for the novel Things Fall Apart. You will receive three editable Word docs:
1) Chapter breakdown - Tabled list of all 25 chapters including page numbers, length, a short summary of each, a space for important teaching notes (with some notes already added), and a space for adding the date you taught the chapter.
2) Anticipation guide - Pre-reading student handout with guiding questions about major thematic subjects in the novel (e.g. power, tradition, family).
3) Extra credit project menu - List of 9 possible extra credit assignments related to the novel, including written, drawn, and oral options. Could be printed as a single student handout (great for early finishers or a substitute teacher) or assigned individually throughout the novel unit.
Each of these documents is extremely useful in planning a unit for Things Fall Apart. The chapter breakdown will be a HUGE help in laying out your reading calendar, the anticipation guide will prepare you and your students to discuss a range of literary themes, and the extra credit menu will provide you with ideas for assignments throughout the book.
Even if you have already started your unit this year, you'll find these very handy as you continue! Enjoy and please leave feedback!
