Product Description
NO-PREP CRITICAL THINKING RESOURCE!

Can you teach someone to think critically? Or is this some innate skill only a few can hope to possess? Some people are born great at something and some have to work hard at it. Whether your students were born to think like a scientist or not, they CAN learn to think critically with practice.

The Think Like A Scientist Series is the practice they need. Deliberately crafted to challenge learners in all the cognitive levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy (Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate, Create), this daily two-week course will challenge your students to stretch their understanding of the world, take a second—longer—look at things, be patient with themselves, and finally, form an opinion on a topic outside their comfort zone using newly acquired knowledge.

Think Like A Scientist has four volumes for grades 3-5.
VOLUME ONE is called “Learning to Think” and includes units 1-5 in the series:
UNIT ONE - NATURE SCIENCE – BUGS.
UNIT TWO - SPACE SCIENCE – MARS.
UNIT THREE - PHYSICAL SCIENCE - ATOMS.
UNIT FOUR - EARTH SCIENCE – WATER.
UNIT FIVE - LIFE SCIENCE – CELLS.

Volumes two through four also have five topics and will be structured like this:
Volume Two (Units 6-10) expands on that and introduces finding evidence
Volume Three (Units 11-15) expands on Volumes One and Two and introduces compare and contrast
Volume Four (Units 16-20) expands on all previous volumes and teaches them to answer their own questions

THIS THINK LIKE A SCIENTST WORKBOOK INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

DAILY PRACTICE for two weeks of instruction
CLOSE READING passages that will challenge their understanding of arthropods
STUDENT DRIVEN discussion topics
CRITICAL THINKING analysis
WRITING using everyday words and using scientific words
SCIENCE LITERACY that is purposefully challenging
VOCABULARY words that will help them make a connection between understanding and application of knowledge
SELF EVALUATION at the end that will ask them to rank their own individual progress, not compare them to other students
NO-PREP TEACHING GUIDE with a two-week daily schedule
INSTRUCTIONS and step-by-step photos for making an OPTIONAL critical thinking folder
