Product Description
This mini-lesson teaches students to use quick think marks as they are reading to self.

This lesson teaches students how to use their think marks that are in their "tool box" or take quick notes using symbols while they are reading. This will help them use their metacognition. It will also help them monitor their understanding or thinking about their thinking of the text by being actively involved as readers. Students will learn to keep track of essential or most parts of a text while they read. This is a very important skill good readers use.

This lesson has a connection, teaching point, teach/model, active engagement, and link.

This lesson also comes with an anchor chart that should be printed as a poster. It is a "tool box" filled with symbols to use as readers are thinking about their thinking.

The anchor chart could also be shrunk into book marks for the students.

Eventually students should take post-it note out of book and place in reading journal to begin writing longer and stronger about their thinking.

This lesson will be added to our collection soon.
