Students use the first sheet of these two pages before and after reading of nonfiction pieces. First, they write down five facts they already know about the topic to activate background knowledge and five questions they think will be answered. After reading, students write down five facts they learned and identify nonfiction text features that appeared in their book or article.
The second page guides students to write a nonfiction summary. First, they identify the who, what, where, when and why of the article, and then write a short summary.
