Mental Math Units: the Complete Subtraction Collection
Thinking Addition is one of the most effective strategies for solving subtraction equations. Because many students find subtraction difficult to master, using addition to solve a subtraction equation can make the process easier.
In this strategy unit, students will learn that there is an inverse relationship between the operations of addition and subtraction. Students will use known addition facts to solve subtraction equations and gain experience with forming fact families. They will learn that knowing one fact can help them with other related facts.
This mental math strategy unit includes all of the materials that you will need to teach your students about the strategy of "thinking addition." Included is independent seat work, flashcards, center activities, large group kinesthetic learning activities and more!
Furthermore, the activities in this unit have been divided into three levels. The first level uses numbers up to 10, the second level uses numbers to 20, and the third level uses numbers up to 100. This will enable you to use the activities that best target the individual students in your classroom.
