I combined multiple resources to create THINKING CARDS based on the Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. One side has the stem questions and the other lists the associated verbs.
You may print them on 3x5 color coded index cards or scale them to fit on letter size paper. I used color coded cards, formerly used in libraries, to catalog books before computers came along. The drawers had metal rods through the bottom center to hold the cards in the drawers.
Then, I used http://www.santeefalcons.org/ourpages/auto/2010/1/27/42486859/Costa_s%20Levels%20of%20Questions%20house.pdf to teach the 3 levels of thinking: in the basement, the first floor, or the penthouse. Students have to understand the different levels to know when they are asking higher order questions. Most students will quickly recognize when they are asking basement level questions and want to move up in their questioning skills. I hope this resource helps your students develop their metacognitive thinking skills.
