This lesson is designed to be completed over two days with students working in cooperative groups. It incorporates the multiple intelligences for verbal-linguistic, bodily-kinesthetic, logical mathematical and visual-spatial learners.
This activity is designed to utilize their analytical skills. The students describe what they see in examples of each property in the activity and then collectively come up with a phrase that summarizes what they observe. Writing their observations is helpful for the verbal-linguistic learners. The students should then share with others why they wrote what they did for each property for the interpersonal learner. A PowerPoint is included showing how the property examples relate to the suggested phrases for the visual-spatial learners. A description of body movements are included to go with the phrases for the body-kinesthetic learners.
